Plus, if you want to make your own donuts but don’t want to spend a lot of money or mix a bunch of ingredients, we’ve got you covered!

Glazed Donut and Vanilla Ice Cream Sandwiches

Simple yet delectably delicious, all you have to do is slice a glazed donut in half and sandwich some vanilla ice cream in between. From the sticky sweetness of the outside of the donut to the creamy vanilla ice cream melting into the donut’s soft insides with every bite, it’s hard to resist the pull of this amazingly easy combo.

As a bonus, if you’re making your own donuts, try branching out to different flavors for a glaze. For example, you can use apple or strawberry jelly to create an amazing donut glaze that will kick these donut ice cream sandwiches up several notches on the flavor belt.

Chocolate Frosted Donut and Vanilla Ice Cream Sandwiches

Another easy one to pull off, a chocolate frosted donut and vanilla ice cream sandwich gives you the classic chocolate and vanilla flavor combo. The rich chocolate frosting of the donut just mixes so well with the melting ice cream. Now we’ve got to go make one for ourselves!

Ice Cream Stuffed Donuts/Donut Holes

Making ice cream stuffed donuts is easiest if you’re making donut holes (or, donuts without holes). You can either make your own donut dough or use biscuits to create the donut holes quickly and easily at home.

Using refrigerated biscuits (you can use regular biscuits or smaller ones, depending on whether you want a smaller donut hole or a bigger donut hole), take them out of the package and cut each biscuit in half. Then, you’ll press the dough out into circles and add a small spoonful of ice cream (any flavor you want) in the middle. Carefully wrap the edges up together, making sure it’s tightly sealed.

Place your biscuit ice cream balls in the freezer for an hour, then fry over medium-high heat until they’re golden brown. Drain on paper towels, then freeze for another half an hour, then pour whatever glaze you like over your donut holes and serve them immediately. Customize your glaze to coordinate with whatever flavor of ice cream you choose, or just go with a simple glaze. You can even go so far as to roll them in cinnamon sugar if you like or frost them and let loose with some fun sprinkles.

Cinnamon Sugar Donut and Vanilla Ice Cream Sandwiches

A cinnamon sugar donut just begs to be paired with creamy vanilla ice cream, especially if the donut is still nice and warm. This combination works as a delicious dessert, or even a fun, vacation-worthy breakfast.

Drizzle or Spread Frosting Over Donuts

Add some more oomph to your donut ice cream sandwiches by spreading or drizzling a frosting that coordinates with your ice cream over the donut. Try using food coloring to create fun colors of frosting for your donuts for any occasion. Dress them up even more and add sprinkles on top for a fun, colorful donut ice cream sandwich treat!

Roll the Donut Ice Cream Sandwich Edges in Cereal, Candy, Etc.

If you want to try out glazed donut and vanilla ice cream sandwiches but want to add a little pizzazz to them, try rolling the edges in chocolate chips, your favorite cereal (one with marshmallows makes an even better treat!), sprinkles, or even your favorite candy all crushed up for a fun, flavorful glow-up.

If you find yourself wanting to try out some of these donut ice cream sandwich ideas but don’t have any donuts on hand, you can make your own easily without having to mix up a bunch of ingredients yourself, and no special donut pan needed either. All you need is a can of refrigerated, regular-sized biscuits (or smaller ones if you would rather have smaller donuts without holes).

Simply form holes in your biscuits (or not) and bake as the packaging instructs, or you can either deep fry them on medium-high heat for a couple of minutes on each side. These won’t take long to get done, so be sure not to over-cook them.

You can also air fry your biscuit donuts at 350 degrees for just a few minutes; be sure to flip them over to ensure a nice, even golden coloring.

Take Two Fun Desserts and Combine Them for One Delectable Delight

Whether you decide to try your hand at making donut ice cream sandwiches or ice cream stuffed donuts or donut holes, we’re sure that you and your loved ones will enjoy the outcome!

Making your own donuts by either mixing them up and baking them in special pans, or using biscuit dough in the oven, deep fryer, or air fryer, might be an extra step, but this allows you to customize exactly how you want your donuts to look. If you don’t want holes in your biscuit donuts, or even if you do, try making them into neat shapes before baking or frying them, such as hearts or stars.

Putting together and decorating donut ice cream sandwiches is also a fun activity that you can do with your children, grandchildren, or any other special kiddos in your life. Go nuts with colorful icing, sprinkles, and ice cream toppings for a tasty dessert and a fun day of hanging out and making memories together.
