My name is Zoë Lukas, Founder and Creative Director of Whipped Bakeshop, an appointment-only bakery specializing in amazing cakes, cookies and cupcakes, as well as classes and group tasting events. Growing up as the youngest of 4 kids, some of my favorite memories were always my mom’s cakes for birthdays and holidays. My dad traveled frequently and used his special bakery-radar powers to seek out deliciousness across the country (he had an encyclopedic memory of food establishments, and was once able to name dozens bakeries from memory in Baltimore city alone). He often brought us home delicious baked goods. Between my mom and dad, I developed a serious sweet tooth! At the same time, I also developed a love of creativity and fine art. Drawing and painting from an early age, I went on to get a degree in painting from the Maryland Institute College of Art, which was a transformative experience. I became obsessed with color and detail and I still paint daily! After decorating a number of cakes and cookies that went viral on the Internet (Thanks Daily Candy), my high school sweetheart Brennen and I dove headfirst into the world of opening, owning, and thriving as bakeshop entrepreneurs amid the vibrancy of Fishtown, Philadelphia.
