Sister Honey’s

About Sister Honey’s She was affectionately given the nickname ‘Honey’ by her family when she was a small child due to her sweet demeanor. As a young adult she became known as ‘Sister Honey’ among her church brethren. Later in life, she became a woman who spoke eloquently with an infectious smile. Her warmth would radiate when she greeted folks with, “Hello, my darling. How are you?” This was the same loving care that she put into everything she baked for her family, friends, and community. She passed on the love of cooking and baking to her eldest daughter, Evette. She remembers how mesmerized she was with all the goodies her mother would make. Tied to her mother’s apron strings, the kitchen was Evette’s favorite place. Sister Honey and Evette would spend their time together fondly flipping through pages of cookbooks and eagerly watching the original cooking shows like The French Chef with Julia Child and The Galloping Gourmet with Graham Kerr. That passion for cooking and baking later spilled over into competing nationally. In 2006, Evette entered the National Pie Championships, where she was awarded the Blue Ribbon for her Orchard Fresh Apple Pie. Since then, she has received multiple ribbons, been featured on the Food Network, in Hometown Cooking Cookbook by Family Circle, was a panelist on the Crisco® Pie Tips Hotline and has received accolades in numerous publications. She also shares some of her award-winning recipes in a cookbook, America’s Best Pies, by the American Pie Council. In 2012 she was awarded prestigious Blue Ribbons for pies that were featured on the Crisco® website. (See most recent press & awards here.) Evette says that she has learned so much from her mother about food as well as life in general. “Everyday I honor my mother, Sister Honey, by continuing the legacy of great baking.” At Sister Honey’s, we are committed to providing you with the best customer service and top-quality crafted baked goods.
